Description

The Seine estuary nature reserve is home to the remains of the Hode ferry landing stage.
The last crossing of the Seine before its mouth, the site experienced its most tragic episode in June 1940, when large numbers of people from Le Havre fled under enemy bombardment. It was then fortified by the German army until the Liberation, as evidenced by two blockhouses once equipped with anti-aircraft guns. Roger Soulieux, from the Association Le Havre Histoire et Patrimoine (Le Havre History and Heritage Association), a specialist in this historic period, and the Maison de l’Estuaire invite you to immerse yourself in the history of this ferry during a walk along the former estacade.

Meet at the Sentier du marais du Hode parking lot, Saint-Vigor-d’Ymonville.
