LE HAVRE

Exposition Dialogue inédit entre Perret et Teuthis - ©PAH

Description

After studying oceanography, which led him to specialise in the study of marine biodiversity, Teuthis, an illustrator and poster artist from Le Havre, has been combining scientific reflection with an artistic approach since 2013. Starting with rigorous documentation work, he creates his works in ink, strictly adhering to the standards of naturalistic drawing. This is followed by a graphic treatment in which the addition of lines unifies the composition, giving it dynamism and depth.

To mark the 150th anniversary of Auguste Perret’s birth, the artist is stepping out of his usual underwater domain, while retaining his scientific method, to offer an original re-reading of the work of Auguste Perret. His fine illustrations deconstruct the emblematic elements of Le Havre’s heritage: capitals, columns, clerestories, grey, pink or beige concrete? All these details, grouped together like a formal inventory, reveal the subtlety and diversity of the architecture of the master of reinforced concrete.

Exhibition from 29 February to 26 May 2024, in partnership with the Galerie Hamon.
