Description

Alexander Zeldin / Compagnie A Zeldin

A re-creation with French performers of the first part of a trilogy on inequality (Beyond Caring), Prendre Soin continues director Alexander Zeldin?s naturalistic approach to theater that is as close as possible to the rawness of reality. Set against a backdrop of stripped-down, realistic situations, we are immersed in the premises of an industrial butcher’s shop, where five maintenance workers cross paths, taking turns, cleaning, scrubbing and tidying up on staggered hourly cycles. Subjected to thankless, exhausting tasks, precarious contracts and a chaotic work rhythm, they find meager escapes in their breaks and forge bonds with each other. Alexander Zeldin delicately, without sugarcoating the precariousness he observes with a magnifying glass, but without pathos either, strips his narrative down to the bone to create an unvarnished theater that reflects the violence of everyday life for the most disadvantaged.
