Description

Julie Bertin and Jade Herbulot / The Birgit Ensemble

At the helm of Le Birgit Ensemble, Julie Bertin and Jade Herbulot examine political, historical and topical issues through their demanding, well-documented theater, in tune with the times and our immediate past. Following on from their previous show, Les Suppliques, which took us to the heart of Jewish families shattered by deportation under the Vichy regime, Les vies de Léon is a tightly-knit production for two actors, aimed at young people. It tells the story of a young man, a Polish Jew, and his multiple exiles to escape the purges of the Second World War. This literally extraordinary destiny is brought to life here through an immersive performance in binaural sound. The audience is equipped with headphones, offering three-dimensional sound spatialization. We are plunged into the very heart of Léon?s geographical journey, in contact with the two actors and this strikingly realistic sound space. And the initiatory dimension of the experience offers living access to memory and history.
