A great lover of music and opera, the multi-successful director takes great delight in embracing the tragic destiny of Violetta, his heroine inspired by Alexandre Dumas?s La Dame aux Camélias. Giuseppe Verdi?s musical score is a pinnacle of the genre, some of the arias are hits, and the libretto, a harrowing romantic drama, is embodied in characters with unforgettable temperaments. The twirling atmosphere of the festive, joyous opening and the amorous encounter that forms the crux of the story give way to sacrifice, illness and death in a deeply moving finale. A cult show, a refined staging, a mythical score. A must-see.
