At a time when maritime transport accounts for almost 3% of global CO? emissions, a new dynamic is sweeping the seas: the return of sailing as an engine for ecological transition. Le Havre Port Center invites you to spend an immersive day understanding, experimenting and debating an exciting subject for the future: sail-propelled freight.

Come and discover how modern cargo ships can navigate largely thanks to the wind. Combined with technical ingenuity, renewable energies and a strong desire to decarbonize our trade, these ships embody a new generation of clean transport.

? Discovery clip :
Gain a full understanding of the history, ancestral know-how and modern-day vessels of the world of sailing. What do we reuse from the past? What are the innovations?
With a presentation of TOWT and its fleet, find out how today?s ships travel the world with their cargoes.
A selection of products imported without fossil fuels will be presented. A concrete way to grasp the positive impact that a rethought mode of transport can have on the entire production chain.

? Tasting break – Maison Anne Caron
Formerly Duchossoy, Maison Anne Caron, a renowned roaster and responsible taste artisan, will be offering coffees imported by sail from Latin America. Taste four ethically selected coffees, including two “pure origins”, and discover an approach that combines pleasure, quality and respect for the environment.

? Meetings & exchanges
The afternoon will be punctuated by two discussion sessions to explore the challenges of maritime decarbonization. At 2.30pm and 5pm, don’t miss the presentations by Diane Mesa and Guillaume Legrand, founders of TOWT (TransOceanic Wind Transport), a sailing freight company based in Normandy. They will share their vision of carbon-free shipping, the behind-the-scenes design of their cargo sailboats, and the ambitions of this model for the future. A free and inspiring opportunity to ask questions and debate.

– Interactive Kahoot to test your knowledge of wind, cargo ships, freight and clean energy (two levels: adults / children).
– Strategy game “Build your route”: choose your means of transport to import your goods while polluting as little as possible!
