Let’s pick up the thread of the wood: this armchair, in which we settle without thinking about it, where does it come from? Its light color and small dashes point the way. It’s a local wood. Its shape tells us that it may be a one-off from a workshop not far from here. Another step back: here are the planks at the foot of the mobile sawmill. One more step: at the beginning, there’s a beech tree, standing among other trees, in a forest, in Normandy or elsewhere. To understand this journey is also to see, touch and feel this wood in all its forms, at the different stages of its metamorphosis. It means discovering its qualities and those of the people who transform it.
