Sans titre-1

Description

Fouad Boussouf / Le Phare ? CCN du Havre Normandie

Fouad Boussouf likes his titles short and to the point. While his mixed-media dance blends fluid, syncopated movements at the crossroads of Oriental and contemporary influences, his subjects are immediately clear. Ou?m, for example, is dedicated to the famous Egyptian singer Oum Kalthoum. A tribute to the Arab diva, it features the oriental rhythms of two musicians on stage and the seismic undulations of six male and female dancers, whose group dynamics ignite the space. Throws, lifts and twirls irrigate this sensual, lively dance, full of lightning flashes, in the image of the choreographer at the helm of Le Phare? CCN du Havre Normandie. And when percussion, oud and guitar give way to silence, it is the verses of 11th-century Persian poet and scholar Omar Khayyam that resonate from afar, distilling the intoxication of life and the taste for love. Those Rubayat, as they were called, that Oum Kalthoum so loved to sing in her sweet voice.
