Preoccupations is a post-punk band from Calgary formed in 2012 under the name Viet Cong. Their fifth album “Ill at Ease” is released on the Born Losers label. The eight-track album draws inspiration from 80s and 90s nostalgia, while retaining the band’s iconic post-punk sound.

Speaking of the album’s themes, frontman Matt Flegel confides: “The source of dark subjects to tackle never seems to dry up, and that’s always where I draw my lyrics from. Summing up all my anxieties in a song is often the only way to get through a day. Some songs are born in a world of arid plains of scorched earth, covered in a dust of shame, dread and death, where everything I love kills me.”
