BORDEAUX-SAINT-CLAIR

Église Saint-Martin - ©Pays d'art et d'histoire

Description

Organized by Pays d’art et d’histoire.

Built from the 12th century onwards, as evidenced by the nave and portal with its Romanesque ogive, Saint-Martin church is striking for the contrast between its classical exterior and the luminosity of its remarkably well-maintained stone and brick interior. Of particular interest are the 16th-century pilasters and statuary, including a 17th-century Virgin and Child listed as a Monument Historique, and an 18th-century polychrome wooden Saint Onuphre.
