Discover the Seine estuary during a one-hour boat trip between Le Havre and “the other side of the water”: Deauville / Trouville-sur-Mer.

Le Havre is located at the mouth of the Seine, 17 kilometres from Honfleur by road via the Pont de Normandie, while by water, it’s only a short distance away. Long before the Tancarville Bridge was built and inaugurated in 1954, and then the Normandy Bridge in 1995, inhabitants who wanted to go from one bank to the other or, as is still commonly said here, “across the water”, had to embark on boats that regularly made the crossing.

Those days are gone, of course, but to connect with this past, the Ville du Havre II, moored in the port of Le Havre and whose main activity is to allow tourists to visit the port of Le Havre, embarks for about an hour with up to 99 people for a return crossing of the estuary, not to Honfleur, but a little further, to Trouville-sur-Mer.

Crossing the estuary, how to do it

Departures usually take place in the morning and return in the evening, thus allowing visitors, who have become cruise passengers of a new kind, to walk around all day in Trouville-sur-Mer, and to continue their walk to the nearby town of Deauville.

At the same time, the Trouville company operating the boat “Golf Stream”, provides the same service from Trouville to Le Havre, for a day of discoveries, visits, walks or relaxation on the beach or in the centre of Le Havre.

During the crossing, the captain livens up the journey with information and anecdotes on the history of the flower coast, or the activity of the port of Le Havre.

This activity, which is becoming increasingly popular, is offered on an infrequent basis during the summer months and requires prior booking.
